Group Mentoring Clubs
On the first, third and possibly fourth Wednesday of every month we have a Group Mentoring Club where children and young people who have been referred come to participate in fun learning sessions, hang out, play games with others who are also in the same situation. Group Mentoring for this age group is offered through an innovative programme called The BASE.
The BASE is a place for young people to come together, spend time with Mentors and have fun —to Believe, Achieve, Succeed and Excel – and lines up very closely with the aims and objectives of LBC and LLAL.There will be the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and play some games. It is a rolling programme of monthly events helping them to take hold of the opportunities they have, reduce anti-social behaviour and prepare them for a world of employment.
One Mum recently said when speaking about her son “he loves it, if it was on every week, he would go if he could!”
The programme covers the following subjects:
What’s My Foundation? –Conversation skills, body language and friendships.
How Do I See Myself? – Building good levels of self-esteem and confidence.
Clued Up! –Drug & alcohol awareness and possible addictions- in partnership with PUKE)
What Does My Future Look Like? – Thinking about the future and goal planning.
My Tool Kit – Employability skills-in partnership with Barclays Bank.
It’s All About The Money –Spending & saving
Performing At My Peak! –Keeping fit, eating well & staying healthy.
The World’s At My Feet! – Environmental/ Conservation work (Outdoor Activities)
Managing Myself –Dealing with anger in constructive ways.
Take Control! –Smart thinking to resolve conflicts.
What’s The Connection? – The value of networking and relationship building.
Knowing Your Digital World –Internet safety, cyber bullying & things to look out for when online.
Ages 8-13 ACE –
Group Mentoring for this age group is offered through ACE Kids (8-10) and ACE Plus (11-13).
ACE Kids and ACE Plus are places for young people to come together, spend time with mentors and have fun —to:
There will be the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and play some games.There will be time to get to know the other young people at ACE Kids.Most sessions will start with an ice breaker/ game to help build the self esteem and social skills of the young people.The aim is to help young people to be able to deal with the situations they will face in life and provide an insight into other GreenHouse Mentoring Courses such as :
- Dealing with Anger
- Building Self Esteem
- Basic Social Skills
Each session will finish with a supervised open activity club, where the young people can enjoy themselves in a safe environment.Trained and screened Mentors will be on hand to assist the young people and be able to guide and help them to unlock their potential.Snacks & refreshments will be available.
